Show was AMAZING!

Saw the show last night in Irvine, it was really amazing. Slayer came out and did an amazing set, I have seriously never seen anyone play the guitar like that. And Manson, well, dont listen to anything, just go, his set was so good it almost brought tears to my eye's, he played EVERYTHING. Played stuff from every album and it sounded great, he did some songs from Antichrist and brought out the whole Antichrist stage setup with the podium and everything. And I will concede, some of the new songs live are really good and has made me look at some of the songs on the new album in a different way, heart shaped glasses live was awesome. They had this chick come out on stage pushing a cake, at least it looked like a chick until manson went up and ripped its head off, so it was like an android or something, it was really trippy. And all the people there were super cool and were having a great time.

It was a real quality rock show, I suggest anyone who is thinking of going, go see it, you wont be dissapointed.

New Album Thoughts?

So... I really wanted to like this album, really really I did, but I just... it all sounds like filler. Every track sounds exactly the same and none of them really stand out as something I'd hear and go "OHH TURN THAT UP!" I've been listening to it on repeat for a couple days now and I just can't seem to find a track that really pulls me in... at all.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Are there any tracks that you particularly like that perhaps I should try listening to apart from the rest of the album?

I'm not trying to knock it. Really, I'm not. I just can't seem to find anything worth putting on a playlist.

I've got tickets for the show in Baltimore and I'm really hoping that perhaps these are just the kind of songs that sound so much better live... but I've generally liked Manson's studio stuff better than his live stuff, so I'm not going to hold my breath there.

I got the symbol for Mercury tatooed on my fore arm rescently, then while pur oozing a record store I stumbled upon Mansons Holywood album. Hmmm, how did this one slip by me? Thought I had heard everything he had done, musta missed it. (by the way, outa all the insane shows I have been to over the years, and this includes hundreds of dope underground raves, Mansons show was hands down, or hands up in this context, the most insane of them all, I fukin' freaked out) So I open up the album and Immediatly I see the very symbol I has just had tatooed on my arm. That in it self was interesting, but what was more interesting was and is my resonance with the album. Half the lines in it are kaballistic. I don't think I have heard such a poin yant expression of Kaballas truths. If anyone else knows what the freak i am speaking to please feel free to respond.

Despite the misinterpretation of Manson's film project in a recent RollingStone interview, (correctly titled PHANTASMAGORIA: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll), Manson also has immediate plans for an art gallery opening and the release of his first fine art book of paintings.

PHANTASMAGORIA: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll, consists of four short films, set to release this winter, followed by a feature length film.

"The other night I took an eighty-year-old taxidermied monkey, set it on fire in the pool and filmed it from beneath with an underwater camera," says Marilyn Manson, sitting in his home in Los Angeles. "It was beautiful, like the Titanic, the Hindenburg and King Kong all mixed into one."

Manson has come to a crossroads in his career. "I no longer want to make art that other people -- particularly record companies -- are turning into a product," he says. "I just want to make art." And he's invented a new genre for his new breed of art: "horripilation." "It's horrifying, and it's depilatory," he explains. "It will horrify the hair off of your legs."

First up is PHANTASMAGORIA: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll , a set of four short films to be released through his Web site. "It's the visions of Lewis Caroll -- in fact I'm playing Carroll," he says. In Installment One, Manson explores the origin of Alice in Wonderland's Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. "I might add that the girls playing Tweedle Dee and Dum are twins who get to have real, genuine sex with each other. I like to make dreams come true."

Manson is also opening an art gallery in L.A., publishing a book of paintings, planning to convert his basement wine cellar into an opium den ("I don't drink wine") and sporting a goatee for an upcoming cameo opposite Lucy Liu in Rise.

He's also got eighteen songs in the can. "It's not like I'm going to stop making music and start knitting," he says. "I just don't think the world is worth putting the music into right now. First we're gonna fix the world with horripilation."

The Nobodies 2005 Korean

I've been hunting around on the Intarweb and haven't been able to find an answer to my question, so I thought I'd check to see if anyone here knows. The Korean version of the Nobodies 2005 single is listed on amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007U8XKW/sylvanelfcom-20 ) with track titles like "new *hit" instead of "new shit" ... I'm trying to figure out if the music on the album itself is censored or if it's just the track listing that's been cleaned up. Any idea?

I also noticed that amazon has the Korean single listed with a remix titled "Burn 69 Mix" whereas the German release ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007SQM0W/sylvanelfcom-20 ), which I have, has the "Burn 36 Mix" ... any idea if that's just a typo on the Korean version or if it's actually a different mix?

LA at the wiltern

I saw Manson this weekend in LA at the Wiltern - incredible show!! we managed to get up to the front row so the view was fantastic. the crowd was really into it, which was great, but overall the show was a little tamer than other Manson concerts I've been to in the past. had a great time, but I didn't really care for the opening act though.

sb show dec 17th review

so the concert was last night.
shunt or slunt or whomever opened--- took too long. the bassist was pretty hot and kinda kooky, which was nice.

our town just didn't have a great turnout, and there were lots of people there who didnt seem very into the whole deal. we only got one encore song.

don't get me wrong, i had a great fuckin time, and 5th row seats had me close enough to get spit on, which i did, along with the rest of the front rows.

i just wish i'd gone to see him in la or something where it would have been more...i dunno... i felt like i was the only highly stoked person there.

MM still rocks my muthafuckin socks, i just wish our city were a little wilder.

plus it was a show w/ seats, and they kept trying to keep us out of the aisles, so no moshing/etc....

DC Show Cut Short

I saw MM in DC last night and the show was cut short but only by one song... After playing Antichrist Superstar, someone in a head set grabbed Manson and Manson threw the mic stand and ran off stage... the lights came up right away, it was all very sudden... so i was thinking that something was wrong and i overheard two of the club staff members talking about a problem... and one of my friends got a set list and it stated that Antichrist Superstar was supposed to be 2nd to last and The Reflecting God was to be the last song...

Other then that, the show was awesom... accept the "stand in" guitar player, he looked like he should be in Poison... here's what they played in no order...

Manson was on Headbangers Ball tonight and i typed out what he said for a friend of mine who was working and couldn't watch it... figured i might as well post it here while i have it...

They do have a un-named guitar player for the tour...
Ginger will not be at the first few shows due to a broken wrist and a few other bang ups... When asked how important his image was to him, manson said "well i was voted most fashionable my some magazine or something but whatever"...
He called the banned video song "aint" and said that he funded it so that it would be what he wanted, and since it wasn't Interscopes proporty, it was left off...
He also said that everything in the video was "real" so that's interesting...
When asked what his plans were back in 94, he said that he was most interested in "performance art" and not so much music...
When asked about "sweet dreams", he said that it was a bit in the first tour and the fans wanted it on an album but he didn't so, he put it on the EP with other "random noise" to give the "manson stomach ache" and used the Willy Wonka theme suggestive as pulling in children...
Said that "sureal is to bring about questions not answers" and that he could not explain why he was painted black, riding a pig in the Sweet Dreams video...
Him and Tim Skold wrote 8 songs while doing "personal jesus" so more to come...!
Said he covered Personal Jesus cuz if he were to write a song now, that's what he would of said...
Personal Jesus was done with MM and Shirley Manson first but they didn't like the way it worked out, however manson said that "we sounded good together, and looked good together and may work together again someday"
Said that when telling the band about making music, he might say "i want the bass to sound more like fake breasts then real breasts" or "more like my face and less like yours"...
All the songs off LWF were re-mastered so "bad drug mixes" were cleaned up, the tittle LWF is in refference to war media tittles and said his life had been a war...
A lot of Holy Wood was his reaction to Columbine and how the media trashed him...

at the end of the interview, the host said "lay off the absynthe" and manson kinda put up his hand and shook his head...

Jesus Christ! Manson to possibly be offered role in zombie flick

Manson's next film role could possibly be playing the mighty bearded one, Jesus Christ. That part would be in the film 'Diamond Dead', which is being described as a "rock zombie movie".

Producer Andrew Gaty is very eager to get well known faces involved with the film, especially those associated with the rock world. Names currently buzzing around include Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie and Gwen Stefani. Gwen is currently being considered for the role of Aria and her agent is currently looking over the script.

Gaty also seems very keen to get the web-community involved as much as possible with the project too. This includes asking opinions on potential actors that are being considered for roles and looking for ideas for a mocumentary which will be streamed around the release of the film. Users of the films site are also given access to the draft versions of the scripts so they can give their input on those too.

The actual plot of the film revolves around rising band who are accidentally killed by their new singer. After making a pact with the devil (as you do), the band are resurrected and become highly successful rock stars.

The script is being co-written George Romero, who is probably most famous for his "Dead" trilogy of films. He'll also be sitting in the Director's chair, making the film a potenital winner before it's even started production. The music will be composed by Richard Hartley, who also worked on the music for The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Tony and Ridley Scott's "Scott Free Productions" will also be co-producing, giving the production some financial backing and the chance of being taken seriously. Depending on funding for production, finalisation of the script and casting, filming could start as soon as Summer this year.

Jeordie will be entering the studio again this summer to continue work on Snowball, the side-project of Masters of Reality frontman Chris Goss. In a fairly big-headed manner Goss describes the project as being "like the Velvet Underground meets Led Zeppelin... a noisy droning rock thing. Very driving, it's exciting."

Speaking to Metal Hammer this month Goss describes why he wanted to collaborate with Jeordie: "I was a fan of Marilyn Manson from day one and I noticed that my favourite songs were written by Twiggy, especially 'The Beautiful People'." There was a great time when you'd hear it on the radio played between 'Black Hole Sun' [Soundgarden] and Alice in Chains and I think 'wow this is the darkest pop music I've ever heard'. A great little era. But as Manson's records became more "industrial" and computerised I was thinking 'what's this Twiggy guy gonna do? 'Cos I think he likes to to rock' And I met up with him around three years ago and I said 'Man I love all this raw rock that's around just now and he said 'Me too' and I said 'Good, let's jam. So we did and the next thing he was out of MM."

Obviously being unable to get enough of the Goss-meister Jeordie will also be joining Masters of Reality on the forthcoming US tour, which will happen after the Snowball recording sessions.

Manson sues Scott Putesky

Billboard.com reports that Manson and Pogo are suing former bandmate Scott Putesky (AKA Daisy Berkowitz) and Empirewerks Records on the claim that his release of old Manson material constitutes trademark and copyright infringement.

The suit, which was filed on 28th April in a United States District Court in California, seeks to cease and desist the sale of Putesky's recently released compilation of Spooky Kids songs, 'Lunch Boxes & Choklit Cows', as well as a payment of $500,000 for damages.

The claim is being made against unauthorised use of images, film footage and Manson's illustrations on the albums artwork and DVD that accompanies the CD. Putesky gained rights to Spooky Kids recordings in a settlement in October 1998, but these items were allegedly not part of that settlement.

Speaking to Rolling Stone last month Putesky said "I've tried a couple of times since then to reach him, just to be friendly, since everything was done and over, but he hasn't shown any interest, so I just assume he hates me." The fact that this case is going ahead pretty much proves that, and the hate that Manson showed in his auto-biography 'Long Hard Road Out of Hell' still seems pretty much alive.

Empire and Putesky's defence attorney, Richard C. Wolfe, calls the suit "ill-conceived," and thinks "the lawsuit is a desperate attempt by Manson to continue to oppress the members of his band who are largely attributable to his success." He also added: "We've tried to work things out with Manson. He doesn't respond."

Which isn't really that surprising as Manson has a good chance of taking him to the cleaners.

The lineup for the Quinzaine des Realisateurs, also known as the Director's Fortnight, was unveiled in France last Wednesday. Fortnight will run May 13-23 in Cannes. Among the list of 20 feature films from around the world was The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, featuring Marilyn Manson as Jackson.

The film also stars Asia Argento, Winona Ryder, Peter Fonda and is scheduled for a late summer release.

(s)AINT ain't being released, but "Best Of" album is

The official German Marilyn Manson site, marilynmanson.de, is reporting that (s)AINT will no longer released as a single. Instead the next single will be a previously unreleased track that will also feature on the recently rumoured (but now confirmed) "Best Of" CD, which the band are due to release at the end of summer.

This ties in with a post Gidget Gein made on his message board about the (s)AINT video not being "out" until September. By pure speculation on our part we suspect the video will now feature on an upcoming release, such as the inevitable tour DVD, or even the aforementioned "Best Of" album.

Other unconfirmed rumours suggest that the band are re-recording at least one of the Spooky Kids tracks for the release, which could be totally viable as Scott Putesky currently owns the rights to the previous recordings, making it impossible for Manson to release them without his permission (and a nice sum of cash).

In a recent interview Jeordie (AKA Twiggy) revealed he could be releasing a solo album as soon as this Summer. Talking to frontpage.fok.nl he said "I’m planning to release my own album this summer. Most songs are already on paper. But I don’t know what style it will be in, I still have to think about that. Anything can happen." and added "I’m not really a bass player, I’ve started out as a guitarist and I’d like to go back to doing that. If I got the chance, I’d do it."

Album Name Help

I have a tendancy to make mix CDs and let's just say that what I originally named my manson mix... is stupid. We won't get into what it is, but it's dumb. :p I DO however have (what I think is) a much better album name idea, but I need some help deciding which one to pick. The first track on the album is Prelude (The Family Trip) and the last track is Obsequy (The Death of Art).. (ok, it's not the LAST track, but it's the last one listed on the CD, so shhhh)

Anyway, I was thinknig that "Prelude to the Death of Art" was a pretty damn good album name... get it? I knew you would... but actually other combinations like that sound decent too. I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on which would be the best.

Jane's Addiction has cancelled all tour dates from Dec. 27 thru mid January with Marilyn Manson and The Used.
Capitol Records has released an official statement from Jane's Addiction and is as follows:
Due to exhaustion brought on by a rigorous touring schedule, Jane's Addiction has decided to call off our holiday run of the east and all head south to the equator, where we hope to find rest and a new perspective for 2004. We apologize to all of our fans and hope that they will understand. We will see everyone in the new year and happy holidays.

Swiss Authorities Drop Manson Inquiry

ZURICH, Switzerland - Swiss authorities have dropped a criminal inquiry of U.S. shock rocker Marilyn Manson, launched after a religious group complained about his stage act.

The Zurich district prosecutor's office said Monday it had found no evidence to back allegations that the artist had incited violence and breached Swiss law protecting religion during a concert in the city in February 2001.

The Swiss-based group Christians For Truth had lodged a complaint about the singer. The Zurich prosecutor announced a formal investigation earlier this month.

Manson played another sellout concert in Zurich on Nov. 30, part of his ongoing European tour, and prosecutors questioned him in the Swiss city.

The rocker rejected the accusations, and the prosecutor's office said it was persuaded by Manson's argument that his act is meant to provoke a debate about violence and religion.

Manson — whose real name is Brian Warner — and his band members take their first names from pop culture icons and their surnames from famous serial killers. Manson also uses the sobriquet "Antichrist Superstar" and is known for his macabre lyrics.

Baptized as a Satanist and an honorary priest in the Church of Satan, Manson has ripped a Bible during previous stage shows.

His act has made him the target of religious and conservative groups around the world.

Christian groups and lawmakers in Zurich tried unsuccessfully to have the latest concert banned on grounds that Manson's views were offensive to a majority of the population.

i have the manson video (not the music video, but the one of the live footage, all of his videos etc.)

there is a live song towards the end of the tape, not the very last song where they stack the tv's like a cross and burn them, not the one with danzig, but the one where he starts out singing in a black trench coat and top hat looking hat, its kind of a slower song, almost sounds like a good bye kind of song.........fuck i wish i knew which one it was.

Manson track in new Spawn video game

A track from Marilyn Manson's recent Nothing/Interscope album, "The Golden Age of Grotesque," will be featured on the new "Spawn Armageddon" videogame, Billboard has exclusively learned. "Use Your Fist, Not Your Mouth" will be included in the game, which arrives in stores Nov. 26.

"If any artist epitomizes my anti-hero Spawn, it's Marilyn Manson," says Todd McFarlane, creator of the noir comic character and head of McFarlane Enterprises. Manson previously contributed "Long Hard Road out of Hell" with the Sneaker Pimps to the 1997 "Spawn: The Movie" soundtrack.

...For a brief moment onstage, Marilyn Manson appeared vulnerable. "We used to love ourselves/We used to love another," he yelped over the piercing guitar line of "Great Big White World," a slow, eerie ballad that suddenly packed all the emotional wallop of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt." His hangdog expression looked real.

Career middle age may have set in for Manson, but his propensity to shock and awe an audience hasn't waned. His new Grotesk Burlesk Tour was reportedly inspired by German Expressionism and vaudeville. In his pasty white make-up, cropped hair, long black shorts and big-heel boots, Manson came off as a petulant Nazi schoolboy. “Satan worships us motherf*ckers!” he announced at the start of “Rock is Dead” before offering to sodomize both the audience and the Lord Almighty. At regular intervals, a troupe of half-naked go-go dancers jumped onto the stage, either offering up suggestive high kicks or, occasionally, licking Manson’s boots.

But musically, things were different. Manson (the band) have always played ambitious and dynamic agro-rock, but they’ve added some new tricks: four percussionists, upright bass, piano, bursts of white noise and even a wailing saxophone. As far as their singer, Manson remains ever the showman. Clad in blackface and Mickey Mouse ears, he appeared alone for the first encore, warbling “It’s a Small World” atop a gigantic podium. Was it a condemnation of corporate fascism? Maybe. Or was it kind of creepy and weird and wrong and funny? Probably, but at least it was honest.
